Let's face it. The beauty industry is responsible for a lot of packaging waste.
Every product is packaged, shipped and displayed, in some cases several times. Every time, packaging waste is produced.
BeautyOverstock.com takes steps to reduce packaging waste and increase packaging recycling every day. Here are the steps we take, and a few suggestions for you.

What BeautyOverstock.com does to improve |
|
Primary Packaging |
The attractive boxes and wrapping that brand the item, keep it safe. Primary packaging is added by the manufacturer and removed by the consumer. |
Buy unboxed goods that still have the manufacturer’s safety seal attached.
Recycle all packaging materials when you unwrap your purchases. |
We have little control over this, as it is added by the manufacturer and removed by you, the consumer. Please look for unboxed merchandise, and recycle at home. |
|
Secondary Packaging |
Larger cases or wraps that are used to group quantities of primary packaged goods for distribution and for display in shops. |
Shop and buy from online-only retailers, or outlet stores that do not use in-store display materials in addition to Primary Packaging. If your favorite stores do not say that they recycle, ask to let them know it is important to you. |
We offer unboxed merchandise whenever we can. Soon, you will be able to search BeautyOverstock.com for unboxed merchandise with one click. |
|
Transit Packaging |
The wooden pallets, boards, plastic wrapping and containers that are used to collate secondary packaged goods into larger loads for transport, which facilitates loading and unloading of goods. |
Make your online purchases from stores that re-use packaging materials, and/or use recycled materials. Again, if the store does not say that they recycle, ask. |
We re-use all of the boxes, packing peanuts, and bubble wrap we receive. In some cases, we re-use packaging materials that our neighboring companies cannot re-use. |
